I attended our monthly Coronado Real Estate Association meeting yesterday and came away with some very interested information which will affect our community. Below is a letter from the city to a number of homeowners who live in the blocks closest to Ocean Blvd. This study may have a huge impact on our community, the building restrictions and potentially property values. There is a meeting next Thursday, May 31st to discuss this issue in greater detail. Information below.

Navy to Conduct Public Meeting in Coronado on new Airport Installation Compatible Use Zones Study for NASNI

Coronado, Calif. — All interested parties are invited to attend the informational open house meeting conducted by the U.S. Navy, in regards to the release of the Naval Base Coronado (NBC) 2011 Air Installations Compatible Use Zones (AICUZ) study. The foundation of an AICUZ program is an active local military installation’s effort to work with local, state, regional and other federal agencies, and community leaders to encourage compatible development of land adjacent to military airfields. One purpose of an AICUZ program is to protect the health, safety and welfare of civilians and military personnel by encouraging land development which is compatible with aircraft operations. The AICUZ program also recommends land uses that are compatible with elevated sound level, accident potential zones (APZ) and obstruction clearance criteria associated with military air field operations.
